The trademark Hypro originated from the abbreviated name of hydroxiproline iminoacid, which can be found in considerable amounts only in collagen. We chose the name for a newly founded private company in what was then Czechoslovakia. Our main activity is the research and production of atelocollagen, which is a modified collagen without telopeptides, i.e., the end part of collagen molecules. Teloptides contain inter-specific differences which are a source of antigens of various animal species. Collagen freed of telopeptides is non-immunological material. Biocompatible atelocollagen and the method of its preparation is an achievement of our own research and subject to Patent 276891, issued on 31^st December 1992. Since this date is also the last day of the existence of the Federation, we are likely to have received the last Czechoslovak patent.
